We the People
Code for America is working towards a government by the people, for the people, that works in the 21st century. We are a non-profit that helps residents and governments harness technology to solve community problems. We Want You! Are you a developer, designer or project manager? Do you want to make a difference and use your skills for good? We are seeking a new cohort of fellows for our 2015 Fellowship class, committed to discovering new ways that technology can help address the challenges that our governments face. The Fellowship is Code for America’s best known program and consists of a one year residency placing software developers and designers, UX/UI researchers and project managers within local governments. And you can apply now. Over the course of the program, Fellows and local governments to work together to build open-source apps, foster new approaches to problem solving, and tackle social issues that improve the citizen experience and have a significant impact on the community. Partners in Change Fellows in the 2014 class are working with their local government counterparts on amazing projects in Long Beach, Chattanooga, Mesa, and other exciting cities. In prior years, we teamed with City Hall to create change: • In San Francisco - One third of food stamp clients are unnecessarily cut from benefits. Four Code for America Fellows built Promptly offering SMS notifications to keep families fed. • In Philadelphia - A team of geeks built Textizen, reinventing the town hall by enabling thousands to participate in their government via SMS. With people like you, we create and deploy open-source software for local governments. We convene discussions around data formats for important issues such as restaurant ratings, housing code violations, transit, and trails. And we use the power of our network, across programs, to help cities tackle some of the most complex challenges they face. Ready to Apply?
