I always try a certain sense of complacency when a small team of passionate developers of freeware adventures trying to organize themselves and to sell their product. Thanks also to the contribution of the small group of fans accumulated with the episodic The Silver Lining, unofficial remake of King's Quest, Phoenix Online Studios manage to finance the first actually Cognition adventure presented on Kickstarter post cyclone-Schafer that reaches the shelves. Package episodic format might seem an easy shortcut to publish a game on a budget, but, especially for a rookie team, the creation of the first episode is littered with traps: you have to define the graphic style, the engine, the themes, the game mechanics and plan developments to attract casual customers to buy the entire series. Stress, especially financial, is therefore not negligible and often establish good foundation goes at the expense of content, as in the case of the earliest Telltale experiments; Strangely Cognition decides instead to sacrifice something in order to offer a technical experience with longevity comparable to that of short story (6-7 hours).
