John Henshaw and Maxine Peake star in a brand new comedy drama for ITV1, which takes a saucy look at the affair between Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and his diary secretary Tracey Temple.


Confessions of a Diary Secretary follows the story of the two year fling between Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and his diary secretary Tracey Temple which hit the headlines.

John Henshaw (Early Doors, Born and Bred, Cops), and Maxine Peake (See No Evil, Shameless, Dinnerladies) play the star-crossed lovers, with Daniel Ryan (Bon Voyage, The Street, Linda Green) as Temple’s betrayed boyfriend Barrie Williams.

The prestigious cast also includes Pippa Haywood (Green Wing, Brittas Empire), Rebekah Staton (The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, Mysterious Creatures), Jonathan Aris (The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, Doc Martin).

The film charts the start of the affair at an office Christmas party in 2002 to when the story sensationally broke in 2006.

Confessions of a Diary Secretary, is written by Tony Basgallop (The Good Housekeeping Guide, Hotel Babylon, Outlaws) and made by Daybreak Pictures, part of the Mentorn Group, which produced A Very Social Secretary, and The Trial of Tony Blair.

Andy Wilson (Spooks, Gormenghast, The Forsyte Saga) is the director. The producer is Lucy Robinson and the executive producers are David Aukin and Hal Vogel.

David Aukin says: “Our film is intended as an entertaining account of the affair between Prescott and Tracey. It aims to be a warm and comic piece that offers fresh insight into the upstairs downstairs world of Whitehall, where cabinet ministers and diary secretaries collide - sometimes with embarrassing and hugely amusing consequences.”
