Description
Confetti - Retrospective EP Collection
1995 Confetti were a short-lived duo comprised of David and Virginia Aeroplane, pseudonyms for Mark Randall of Fat Tulips (aka Mark Randyhead of the Pleasureheads) and his then-girlfriend. The band's entire output of singles and EPs is documented on this full-length, 15-song CD, which outwardly appears eponymous but bears the misleading title Retrospective EP on the disc. Molded in the image of Young Marble Giants, Confetti applies minimalistic arrangements of hand-dampened acoustic guitar and metronomic woodblock to songs that recall both YMG and the Marine Girls. Josef K's "It's Kinda Funny" is covered, which announces the band's allegiances while resurrecting a great song, and the rest is wistful, low-key pop in the spirit -- and often the style -- of Young Marble Giants.
