Copper (complete Season 01) [NL subs]

Copper is a historical police series originally produced for and aired by BBC America.
It is set in 1860s New York City during the American Civil War and stars Tom Weston-Jones as Kevin Corcoran; a rugged young Irish police detective* trying to keep the peace in the historical Five Points neighborhood while searching for information on the disappearance of his wife and death of his daughter and who is forced to navigate this unruly and dangerous immigrant neighborhood while interacting with the uptown Manhattan crowd and the black community.
Other cast members include Kyle Schmid, Anastasia Griffith, and Franka Potente.

The first season of 10 episodes premiered on August 19, 2012. The series was renewed for a second season of 13 episodes on October 17, 2012, which is set to premiere on June 23, 2013.

This series is highly recommended to all who enjoyed Lyndsay Faye’s novel The Gods of Gotham or the BBC television series Ripper Street!


* The series takes its title from the period slang for a policeman; "Copper Star", which was abbreviated to "Copper". Coined after the copper star the first New York policemen (1845-1857) wore to identify them. These were later replaced with a white metal shield, but the nickname stuck.
