Yeah some antivirus programs react to programs which are 'somewhat peculiar' which may not be malicious. Could always run suspect progs in sandox (so long as they just generate codes and don't patch other files). This program will install OK using generated serial number BUT apps, eg wordperfect, are extremely slow to load, rather as if the program runs checks before it starts. You are not asked to activate anything, so maybe the program is not fully initiated?

It went through the motions of installing but then came up with a message stating that 'This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package...'

Those with Windows 8 may have the program keep crashing due to a runtime error, but here is how you fix it :)
Go here and download service pack 1 ( I also downloaded Service Pack 2 and Hot Patch 1 but all you need to fix the problem is the service pack 1 ) http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index.jsp?pgid=800161&ppid=5000001\n
Download the service packs from the site and then disconnect the Internet and install service pack 1 ( and the others if you want ) then boom... It works :)
