Cyclick Samples - Ethnic Instruments [24Bit WAV]_Sin

This collection of ‘ethnic’ or ‘world’ instruments (i.e. not Western pop/classical) is
made up of sixteen instruments. Examples of each can be found in the Examples folder.
The instruments have been made into velocity layered multisamples (two or three layers
– found in the Multisamples folder) that are collated into SFZ files, which can be
loaded or copied from the Alchemy Player CM folder. These run over two or more octaves
from C to C, with most spread from C3 to C6. Where appropriate multisamples have
sustain loop points embedded into the wav file which can be picked up by most sample players.

The instruments were made from an array of sampled and synthetic sources. Layering and
processing has been used extensively to create either specific instruments or ‘nods’ to
instruments and instrument types. For instance many of the string instruments are made from
several layers of treated acoustic strings (guitars, zithers, ukeleles, banjos, etc.) to
achieve as close a timbre match as possible. Using the attack portions of one set of layered
instruments and blending them with the decay/sustain portions of others allows for a great
deal of latitude when creating new instruments, though matching exactly to create an
instrument such as a sitar is nigh on impossible by this route.

Some of the instruments have an alternate version which involves some distortion to create
a timbre like that which is found coming out of so many speakers across the world – a knarly,
bandpassed distortion that is so often associated with some of these instruments as this how
they are most often experienced.
