It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 selling 261,000 copies in its first week, recording the highest Soundscan for a rap group at the time. The album went Triple platinum in the U.S. with 3.4 million units sold. Black Sunday is also seen as a hip hop classic and the group's most successful material to date.
