Random Access Memories pays tribute to the late 1970s and early 80s era of music in the United States, particularly the sound of Los Angeles recordings of the period. Daft Punk recorded the album largely using live instrumentation with session musicians, and limited the use of electronics to drum machines, a modular synthesizer and vintage vocoders.

Here is an analysis of the Vinyl transfer vs the CD

First the Original CD of track 1, give life back to music:\n

Now, the one that give me pause is, there is ~55.5 dB of dynamic range used on the original CD, whereas there is only ~38.6 dB of dynamic range used on the 24-bit vinyl transfer. \n

That is a significant reduction in dynamic range, so why would I want the vinyl? Perhaps the "alive" sound is simply added distortion by the turntable and amplifier components...

I get errors with most of the files. I'll try a different torrent. :<

I had error messages playing w/ my media player (billy) which typically supports flacs, too. Foobar has no problem w/ the files, I just dislike the interface. Playback issues have to do with the encoding, which a wise anonymous poster pointed out is rather dumb for this vinyl rip, since it cuts off at 44.1hkz.
