Darkness: The Vampire Version (1993 - USA) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . aka Leif Jonker's Darkness Horror 13th Dream Entertainment Production Company http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106669/ Director Leif Jonker's raw, powerful vampire gorefest Darkness has sustained a decade-long cult buzz as one of the cornerstone films of the underground, microcinema scene. It delivers a string of harrowing, shocking scenes, presented with such unvarnished acting and production value that the film almost seems lensed in a quasi- (or perhaps we should say queasy-) documentary style. From start to finish it is one of the goriest movies you'll ever see. Hardly a minute goes by without blood spurting across the screen, an eyeball popping or a head exploding. The climax alone gives the lawn mower scene in Peter Jackson's Dead Alive a very chunky run for its money. The film also has a great metal soundtrack.
