Oft discussed, seldom read forerunner of New Weird by David Britton. Hold the dubious distinction of being the last book to be officially banned in the UK.

The plot is, more or less, about an alternate history where the Nazis won and the genocidal antics of the mad scientist Lord Horror (loosely based on, and a pun on, the name of Anti-British Nazi propagandist Lord Haw-Haw) and friends.

Personally, I found it dull, rather plodding, and, excepting the occasional flash of New Weird-esque musings, not much different than a fair amount of Nazi exploitation from the 1970s (esp. the Italian genre), but book collectors go wild for it and a decent copy regularly fetches over $1000 at auction.

The book only had two printings This e-book is from the only one in an English speaking country in 1989. The subsequent one was Czech. The publisher, Savoy, has repeatedly stated they have no intention to ever re-issue the book again, though they have printed many sequels to it.

Note: This book contains Torture, violence, Fascistic imagery, more torture,anti-semitic and racial slurs in great abundance, yet more torture, and may, in fact, be illegal in your country.
