In the wake of the Glorious First of June, Lieutenant John Pearce has pressing matters to attend to. He must undertake an urgent commission from Lord Hood, track down midshipman Toby Burns, and placate Emily Barclay. Meanwhile smugglers whose ship Pearce inadvertently stole, are on his tail. And it is not only John Pearce who has his fair share of trouble. The triumphant Channel Fleet returns, but the battle is already the subject of controversy –and Ralph Barclay is accused of holding back from the action. Pearce turns the table on his enemies and sets off for the Mediterranean with Emily Barclay. He can only hope that his troubles will end along with his mission. But are they only just beginning? About The Author David Donachie was born in Edinburgh in 1944 is a historical novelist with a particular interest in naval history in the 18th and 19th centuries. He has had a variety of jobs, including selling everything from business machines to soap. A former salesman, of everything from business machines to soap, he is now a full-time writer. He also writes fiction under two pen names, Jack Ludlow and Tom Connery. His first series, The Privateersman Mysteries, is set in the late 18th century and features former navy Captain turned privateer Harry Ludlow. Writing as Jack Ludlow, his Republic series is set in ancient Rome and the Conquest Series is set in the 11th century. He now lives with his wife, also an author, in Deal in Kent. About The Reader Peter Wickham was bitten early by the travel bug, coming to England from New Zealand as a child. He has worked all over England and Wales in repertory and is determined to work more in Scotland! Acting and directing aboard the Q.E.II took him from Singapore to Venezuela, and a short season in Istanbul followed. In 1990 he directed and appeared in a revue on a tour of Czechoslovakia. Many TV appearances started in Dixon of Dock Green (during its later years!) and include most recently A Sense of Guilt. But after theatre his favourite medium is sound; he has been heard many, many times on radio, in plays, reading poetry, short stories and serials. We have uploaded these books just for you because we wish to SHARE them. It is only right therefore, you SHARE them with others, and the only way you can do this, is to keep SEEDING. In other words, don't stop after you have finished the download. Check and make sure your torrent program is set to continue uploading even after the downloading has been completed. A ratio of 2.0 means you are giving back twice what you have received, the book won't die and all our efforts have not been wasted but 5.0 would be outstanding and shows you have really entered into the spirit of what we are about. WE DO OUR BIT AND YOU DO YOUR BIT, sounds fair, doesn't it. If you are new to this and don't understand, type a message at the bottom and if I can't help, I know someone who can.
