Read it with great care. !! IMPORTANT !! - Make sure you've got a backup before you start. How you start DayZ Parameters can be used to start Dayz Standalone that will help with the performance of the game. You will need to know specific information about your hardware before you start. Firstly check what CPU you have, how many cores and how many thread. You will also need to know how much memory and video-memory you have. Navigate to your DayZ root install folder and create a shortcut. Right click on your newly made shortcut and click on 'Properties', in the 'Shortcut' tab, you will have an edit box with a 'Target' lable next to it, inside this edit box will be the location of your exe. It should look a little bit like this example "E:DayZDayZ.exe". You need to add the following parameters to the end of the target. -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty Example : "E:DayZDayZ.exe" -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty (Don't forget to put a space between the target and first parameter) The next parameters are specific to your PC, and this is where you will need to change the parameters to suit you. -maxMem=(Edit here, no higher than 2048, even if you do have 8gig) -maxVRAM=(Edit here) -cpuCount=(Edit here) -exThreads=(Edit here) Updated example : "E:DayZDayZ.exe" -nosplash -skipIntro -world=empty -maxMem=2048 -maxVRAM=1024 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=8 You can now apply the settings, use this shortcut to launche Dayz. Test your new shortcut now before making any other changes. Tip : In Windows 7 right-click the DayZ Standalone exe file, go to the ‘Compatibility Mode’ tab and check ‘Disable Desktop Composition’ Profile Settings Before you can start, you will need to navigate to your documents folder (C:Users [Insert your Windows login here] Documents). At this location you will find two folders, and maybe more. Open the folder called 'DayZ' and find a file called DayZ.cfg. In this file you will need to edit the following parameters so that the values match the examples below: GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1 GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1 Save and close this file, right click on it, go to properties and set it to read only in the general tab. Move back to the 'Documents' folder, you will now want to open the folder 'DayZ Other Profiles' and find the file named 'DayZProfile.cfg'. Open this file and edit the following lines sceneComplexity=100000; shadowZDistance=90; viewDistance=1600; preferredObjectViewDistance=1600; Save and close this file, right click on it, go to properties and set it to read only in the general tab. Test your new settings now using your new shortcut before attempting to make any more changes. AMD Radeon Specific You may want to try 'AMD Radeon RAMDisk', I am not sure if this will work for everyone or if it is compatable with other vendors hardware, so please do your research before you try using this product. Please use google for aditional information. Possible Crash Fixes Before starting the game: Update your NVidia / AMD graphics drivers. Turn off SLI / Crossfire then start the game.
