The only disadvantage to the DAZ Install Manager zips (for me, anyway) is that they don't have any indication of version numbers.

Hmm, did you try clicking on the info icon in the install manager? It show you the details page from the web, not a local file. Update info for each file is there. If you own it, you get auto updates via IM. Otherwise you can check the info icon and then request it. Best of all I have 343 packages installed, and don't have to sit through 343 exe installers and wear my mouse out. Just a couple of click in IM to Install/Remove. Will make upgrading my HD to an SSD a lot easier. Now just those pesky files still in EXE or from other sources.
