Description
Dear Mr. President were a pop/rock band from Portland, Oregon. Formed in 1986, vocalist Julian Raymond (formerly of the band Bang Bang ) claimed the band was named after a disturbing painting he had seen by former child star Leif Garrett. Here we have a fantastic album, with thought provoking lyrics, great melody with well performed songs that convey much emotion and feeling. A band very hard to pigeonhole (which makes a nice change) and definately not for everyone, but some of the more open minded amongst us will definately get something from this.
Signed to Atlantic Records, their self-titled debut album was produced by Mick Jones from Foreigner but was recalled soon after its release in 1988 when it was discovered the White House had a copyright on their name. The band changed their name to Flesh & Blood and the album was re-released as Dead White & Blue in slightly edited form. But by this time interest in the band had dwindled and they broke up in 1989. Raymond gave up singing but remained in the music business, going on to become a successful A&R man with Hollywood Records and later a record producer.
