Description
Debussy
12 Etudes (1915) Mitsuko Uchida, piano Recorded 1989, reis. 2001 EAC, FLAC 1.1.3b, q8 Cue, log, scans The recording that made the Deb etudes popular (and in fact his late piano work in general). A righty famous account, Uchida's is still one of the two or three I keep coming back to, along with, say, the Jacobs and Gieseking. Pollini is nervous, even reluctant, Tirimo too fussy; Jones is just boring. Woodward and Boffard aren't bad. Uchida's isn't a 'definitive' account (I've never liked the concept of an ultimate artistic index for a given work), namely because, like the Preludes and Images, it's endlessly fascinating to see what else can be put into this sublime music. But it's a bloody good performance, and one of my favourite discs ever. SEED! Sharing Widget |
