BBC Radiophonic Workshop 1972 A true stereo mix of this highly original electronic score. When compiling this album, Tristram Cary [R.I.P.] used his orginal masters: 2 mono tracks which were played together in synch, different elements from each used at higher/lower volume settings depending on the screen action. This mix was then downmixed to 1 mono track for the TV dub. For the CD release, both mono tracks have digitally enhanced and mastered with stereo effects to create a 'true stereo' version of the score. It's quality and clarity highlight many elements from the music drowned in the TV downmix. A great composition from one of electronic music's shining stars - whose ideas and music will live on for many centuries to come. Sourced from the CD Devils' Planets, which did not include track titles for this story (unlike The Daleks and their Master Plan) - only Roman numerals. Mark Ayres (who produced the album) is quoted as saying: "The music speaks for itself'" when asked why no titles. (I think it more likely he ran out of time for the deadline - so I have finished the job with titles for all tracks.) Includes full CD cover art.
