Dredd neemt ons mee naar de ruige straten van Mega City One, een eenzame oase van quasi-beschaving op de vervloekte Aarde. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is de meest gevreesde rechter van de Straatrechters, met de macht om de wet te handhaven, overtreders te bestraffen en hen ΓÇô indien nodig ΓÇô ter plekke te executeren. Hij neemt het samen met de aspirant-rechter Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), die paranormale krachten bezit, op tegen Ma-Ma (Lena Headey),het hoofd van een drugsbende die handelt in een nieuwe drug die de realiteitszin aantast en zich schuilhoudt in een enorm flatgebouw genaamd Peach Trees.
