Plot: Alexander Botts is a self-described natural born salesman and master mechanic, who is trying to make a big sale of Earthworm tractors to grouchy lumberman Johnson. Since Botts doesn't really know anything about tractors, and since the old-fashioned Johnson is opposed to tractors of any kind, it isn't going to be an easy sell. But Botts perseveres, encouraged by Johnson's daughter. Reviews: Joe E. Brown plays a crazy salesman with good intentions who goes from disaster to disaster. The scenes with the tractors are laughing out loud funny. A fast-paced comedy with the incomparable Joe E. Brown, one of the wittiest comedians of his time. A few other supporting actors add spice and laughs to the plot, as Joe stumbles his way to a successful careet and a perfect love match. Being an old Joe E. Brown fan I have watched this movie twice now,and believe it to be one of his best.As a tractor salesman named Alexander Botts, Brown is like Bugs Bunny versus Ebeneezer Scrooge trying to sell tractors to the Scrooge like Mr. Johnson,or is it Jackson? Botts becomes involved with Mabel Johnson, daughter of [Scrooge]Johnson who persuades Botts to keep trying to sell her father tractors. It's a tough sale, but a great movie.I whole heartedly believe this to be of the top tier of archive comedy! You're gonna' just LOVE this one! Cast: Joe E. Brown ... Alexander Botts June Travis ... Mabel Johnson Guy Kibbee ... Sam Johnson Dick Foran ... Emmet McManus Carol Hughes ... The Doctor Run-time: 69 min Country: USA Language: English Color: Black and White Aspect Ratio: 1.37 : 1 Fun Stuff: Alert movie mavens will spot two humorous goofs early in the film: 1) In the first scene, when rival Dick Foran parks his car in front of pretty Carol Hughes' home, the cameraman & camera are perfectly reflected in the convertible's driver side window; 2) A little later on, Joe E. Brown's white suit is mad-splattered when he tries to extricate lovely June Travis' auto from a puddle - but when he jumps in with her moments later the fabric has miraculously laundered itself.
