DescriptionEmily and The Woods - Then We Collide [2014] [EP][EAC/FLAC] FLAC / Lossless Label/Cat#:EATW 003 Country: UK Year:JAN,16 2014 Genre:folk Format:CD Helios Tell You Unfolding Doorstep London, England-based group Emily and The Woods just released their latest EP, called “Then We Collide”, on January 16. A very soothing alternative album with solid jazz influence, I would recommend giving this new release a listen during your next dimly-lit bubble bath or the next time you’re looking for a soundtrack to go along perfectly with a wine-heavy night in at home. The introductory track, “Helios”, starts off with light percussion that transports the listener immediately into the scene of a hazy jazz club. Close your eyes to this song and you can easily imagine that you’re standing in front of this smooth-sounding group as they perform. There is something very intimate about Emily and The Woods’ general style that creates an instant likability and bond between musician and audience. As a group, they seem to be very straight-forward and genuine in their group’s musical personality, which shines through admirably in this EP. Although there isn’t much distinction from one track to the next in terms sound individuality, it makes for an incredibly relaxing four-song mini jazz-binge that flows effortlessly. The vocals stirred my curiosity throughout the EP, and the final track, “Doors”, charms us with a slightly more intense string-based solo which wraps up “Then We Collide” on a definitive note. Overall, “Then We Collide” is an EP that flies by in what seems like seconds when listening to it (in all reality it is only 12 and a half minutes), but is filled with graceful compositions that will have your stress levels on the decline in a heartbeat.
