About:
Working on a space game as iconic as Elite: Dangerous is a childhood dream come true. At the same time hugely challenging and rewarding, working on the game enabled me to grow not only as a composer but a professional in general. Overcoming the practical challenges of writing and realizing a 100 minute score, plus delivering the music for a sophisticated interactive playback system, were invaluable lessons.
The project re-introduced me to some of my favourite soundtracks and composers, seeing these in a new light and diving into different compositional approaches; which were sometimes more, sometimes less familiar.
While referencing styles typically associated with the genre, I tried also to express my own personality and influences within the score.
I hope I have managed to capture some sense of the nostalgia that Elite Dangerous provokes, the beauty and vastness of the Elite universe, the infinite possibilities and narratives it contains, and that players will enjoy my music on this CD as well as in the game.
