Event Horizon fanedit

Event horizon. What can be said? Paul W.S Anderson tries the haunted house routine in space. A glorious effort. Gory makeup, great sets, good special effects, some early attempts at some cgi objects floating in space and Laurance Fishburne as a space ship captain!

After you get by what is on paper, the movie does try and succeed in giving some horror and gore for the sci fi fan. The structure of how the story is told however does not a classic make. With a few odd character moments, the usual boo moments, and a very fast musical opening causes the experience to be weighed down to the point of a tv movie . A tv movie with a big budget.

This movie has all the elements of other great sci fi flicks and comes close to becoming one itself. The problem is in how the script was written. By incorporating some obvious boo moments with many quick edits the narrative starts to wander from the actual plotline. Mix that with some characters actions and the viewer's interest has a chance of being out of the final half.

By removing some boo moments, some odd character choices, odd dialog and the brain gets to enjoy the wonderful sets, good acting and the neat idea that a black hole can contain hell.
