Here we have a book written by William Linden, who held the post of Virgule Herald in the Kingdom of the East of the Society for Creative Anachronism under the SCA name "Alfgar the Sententious." Disregarding all that, however, Mr. Linden's interest in heraldry was real, and this book is a real compilation of the arms attributed in fiction to various historic figures who never bore arms, and to fictional characters who bore arms only in fiction. Thus we have have the "arms" of St. Edward the Confessor, who lived before heraldry was invented, the "arms" of Lord Peter Wimsey's family, the "arms" of Laimak from E. R. Eddison's books, the "arms" of Sir Sagramore of Arthurian fame, and so forth. The purpose of this compilation was to enable heralds to check devices submitted for registration with the SCA College of Arms, so that no one got to register the arms of King Arthur for himself. Regardless of the purpose, however, these arms actually exist in fiction (hence the "Fabulous" of the title) and are organized here as an Ordinary, that is, by the contents of the arms. Fans of "Game of Thrones" will look in vain for the arms therein, for this book was compiled long before George R. R. Martin wrote even the first book in that series. But it's good, solid work that every student of heraldry will find interesting. Please seed this torrent to a ratio of 2.0 or better, so it stays available for everyone else.
