Aladdin is a very mystical fairy tale, and the producers knew what they were doing when they hired a rising director named Tim Burton to take on this project. Burton's style shines through in this great adaptation. The sets perfectly cover on the magical and mystical qualities of the unique setting that is so crucial to this tale. In addition, the costumes are colorful and imaginative and the story is told sweetly. At times the script can seem rather corny, but the sets and Burton atmosphere certainly makes up for it. All of the actors turn in very worthy performances, most notably Bertinelli's giggly princess and Jones's short-tempered Genie.
