S01E01 - Death Has a Shadow
In this pilot episode to the series, Peter goes out to a friend's bachelor party, but first promises Lois that he won't get drunk. He does, of course, and the resulting hangover causes him to lose his job the next day. After several unsuccessful attempts to get a new job, Peter applies for welfare, only to discover that a clerical error has now made the family rich. Things spin further out of Peter's control, while Lois is still unaware that her husband has been fired.
S01E02 - I Never Met the Dead Man
After taking Meg out for a driving lesson, Peter manages to smash the car into Quahog's TV transmitter, knocking out the entire town's reception. After first going through some intense withdrawal, Peter soon comes to enjoy living a life that doesn't revolve around the tube. His new high-activity lifestyle is wearing out the rest of the family, however, so they try to find a way to bring Peter back to the couch.
S01E03 - Chitty Chitty Death Bang
Stewie's first birthday is coming up, and Peter has managed to lose the family's reservation at Cheesy Charlie's. Desperate to find a solution so that Lois won't miss this birthday like she missed Chris and Meg's first birthdays, Peter has to come up with a drastic solution. While all this is going on, Stewie muses on his origins and comes to the conclusion that he's going to be re-imprisoned in the womb. Meanwhile, Meg makes friends with a new girl at school, but the party she invites Meg to turns a bit strange.
S01E04 - Mind Over Murder
After inadvertently punching out a pregnant woman, Peter is sentenced to house arrest. Bored out of his mind, he gets an inspiration to build a bar down in the basement so that his friends will want to hang out there. Meanwhile, Stewie is going through his first teething pains, and so tries to invent a time machine to bypass the painful experience.
S01E05 - A Hero Sits Next Door
Peter gets in trouble at work when he accidentally injures the ringer his boss has hired for the company softball tournament. All seems lost until some new neighbors move in next door, and Peter sees that Joe, the husband, is a former softball champion. Peter invites him to come play, not noticing that Joe is in a wheelchair. Joe wins the game, however, and becomes the local hero. Peter starts feeling jealous of all the attention Joe gets, and plots a way to take back the spotlight.
S01E06 - The Son Also Draws
The Griffins head to New York in order to re-gain Chris entry back into the Boy Scouts which Chris doesn't even want to be in. But on the way the decide to stop at an Indian casino. Once there Lois loses all of the family's money and then the car.
S01E07 - Brian: Portrait of a Dog
Brian agrees to help out Peter by entering a dog show, but then quits in mid-performance when commanded to beg. After storming out of the house following an argument with Peter, Brian gets stopped by the police for using a drinking fountain meant for people, and finally ends up under arrest and facing the death penalty for biting someone. Only now when it looks like he will be taken away from them forever, does the family realize how important Brian is.
