Description

He was in New Smyrna, late 70s, when a group of friends began to express their adolescent restlessness through the staging improvised plays. Small skits with live music and song were common small "kafodeion" and a spiritual center. The original band was made up: Nick Portokaloglou, Kavellieratos Harris, George Filippakis, Ulysses Tsakalos, Amitsis Argiris, Michalis Moustakas, John Corfu, Nikos and Ioanna Milionis jackals.

The theatrical quest opens the door to the music and the band splitting 9/melous "FATME" and "Why I'm lost remvazo".
The first composition of the group consisted of: Nick Portokaloglou, Ulysses Tsakalos and Dimitri Kalatzi and in '81 he recorded his first LP of the same name FATME, coming to rock the puddles of modern Greek music, suggesting a novel description of the concerns of the new junta . Songs like "The Prodigal Son" and "Behind the shutters" showed a sensitivity that seemed to have disappeared from the Greek songs through slogans and epic screams. Are you talking about the first "Greek Electric Song" and the beginning of a new era.
Their live shows began to grow with the addition of Michael Moustakis on keyboards and accordion. The concerts FATME create a common sense around them. The second album "Lies" seems more settled. Recorded with a lot of attention, it contains music of FATME position, a dangerous balance between east and west, between laiko song and rock aesthetic.
FATME is now considered the great hope of Greek song. Yet they themselves never remain stagnant but constantly evolving. After the departure of Dimitri Kalatzis, in Thessaloniki where they record in the studio Nikos Papazoglou their third album titled "Risk". The album, from the name alone, indicates the restless mind of its creators. Plenty of remarkable musicians to enrich the sound of FATME, creating an outcome that meets the Greek tradition with the Afro-American seeking groups like the Talking Heads. The eastern roads enriched with polyrhythmic deployments, while the lyrics of claustrophobic becomes ripe and dense, come now expressing the whole "lost generation junta" in marginal "There is serious reason ยจ. Circulation drive followed concerts where the three most FATME ( Portokaloglou, jackals, mustache) accompanied eminent musicians on stage, an intensity only hinted at in vinyl.
The breakthrough to a wider audience came with the release of the fourth album, which features was titled "GETTING OUT OF THE TUNNEL". Here it essentially simplified compared to the "Risk", both lyrics and music terms. The writing of Nick Portokaloglou, mature and ripened, sets about teenage robe and dressed the cautious optimism of a thinking young man, eagerly participating in the events. FATME now shine with their own personal style, which is certified by the entrance of Mimi Doutsoulis on bass, finalizing the vehicle called FATME. The participation of Haris Alexiou and "Kalokairaki" make FATME known beyond the hitherto audience. The success of the album followed by appearances on television and special events culminating in a grand concert at Lycabettus.
FATME are now the largest Greek band. Appear in the "REQUEST THE GREEK SONG" Dionysis Savvopoulos and Platform of Sirius by Manos Hadjidakis. At the end of '87 they recorded their fifth major album entitled "TRIP". Forerunner of the song "Champion" inspired by the triumph EUROBASKET. The songs "Deep Dive", "Travel", "Put me" extrapolate its visual "tunnel" and grapple with the personal quest of integration of the individual. With the "TRIP" FATME make the most mature album.
The concerts, interviews and appearances on all TV channels multiply. The winter of '88 will find their FATME playing in "ZOOM" along with Haris Alexiou and Aphrodite Manou and this program is recorded live. FATME now ready for a review of their course by then, it comes with a celebratory concert at Lycabettus with the participation of many artists. The concert was recorded, filmed and broadcast live on the radio. An unforgetable night! ...
With the release of the double live album entitled "Palko" and having completed 8 years upswing, the FATME decide to shoot everyone in his path search. "Make 8 years longer," says NP inside cover of the album, "along with Odysseus, Michael, Mitsos in the beginning and then we work Mimis playing and toying working. With" Palko "-one live album contains 20 variations-the FATME close the adolescent cycle. Thanks for your company and till we meet again. "

Nick Portokaloglou:
Born December '57 (Capricorn) in Volos but raised in New Smyrna. Lyricist and composer of the group, guitarist and lead singer. As a musician he is self-taught, like everything else he has learned. He has a passion for painting, cinema, travel, history, the Beatles, the secrets, the sun and the songs I picked up ... hair. He has participated in school groups, in orchestras and summer disco bouzouki joint was studied at art school in Brussels and was the inspiration and the soul of FATME.

Odysseus Tsakalos:
Born November '57 (Sagittarius) in Buenos Aires in Argentina, but he grew up in New Smyrna. In high school he met Nick and started (during classes) to dream of a wonderful new band. Already liked the drums (see Led Zeppelin) and soccer (see Domazos). Growing tastes broadened and he began to appreciate certain things, such as friendship, beautiful women of all ages, Sallinger, Mitropano old, heroes of '21, Sting and of course cinema. Self-taught on the drums and his impetuous playing is a perfect mirror of himself.

Michael Moustakis:
Born May '58 (Gemini) in Athens and raised in Kallithea. He was the most educated member of the group with many years studying in conservatories, piano and theory. He met with Nick and Odysseus around '76, a band to play at school dances. He was fascinated for thrillers, the Zappa, the Nino Rota, and G. Battaille and Xaviera Hollander, sketches, Dali and the sensitivity of the artist. He speaks little and is the only one consistent with his appointments.

Mimis Doutsoulis:
Born December 60 (Sagittarius) in Drapetsona where he grew up. He began teaching himself very well studied and played in various professional orchestras. Together with Michael was educated in both groups. He met the rest of the summer of '85, he found them interesting but mysterious and decided to participate. He plays electric and acoustic bass, likes wandering and order, endless debates and silence, old synthesizers and American cinema.

"The extent and passion
