Ferrini - Works for Harpsichord - Roberto Loreggian (1996) [Philidor; FLAC] (Size: 392.63 MB)
Description
Known to his contemporaries as "Giovan Battista della spinetta," Ferrini was part of Frescobaldi's inner circle of musician friends. A celebrated organist who held several prestigious posts over his lifetime, and a well-known harpischordist, he did as many other musicians of his time did, and ignored publishers in favor of manuscripts shared by mail. This gave the composer more control of his material and its distribution, as music publishers were notorious for their sloppiness and plagiarism. It also meant that much music vanished over time, or was saved purely by circumstances that allowed one family's collection to make it down through time.
As a composer, Ferrini is regarded as the most important in his field in Italy, following Frescobaldi's death. His dramatic range and variational ability are exceptional, and he wrote with inspiration. Transfers are made at 768 kBits/s, directly from the disc. Bio enclosed.
