The game works on my Windows 8.1 64bit system and it does save & load, but like “THIRDxSINxSLOTH” mentioned it takes some time as it tries to sync online first before switching to the local save directory. Disabling your Internet connection when playing the game should bypass the sync step and go straight to local.
