Recommended "Windows Minesweeper clone with heart containers and different gamemodes" You can either switch it back to classic mode which is like original Minesweeper (1-life option). Pretty cool is the custom mode where you create your own field size (up to 36x22) and decide how many bombs you want to hide (max 790). In Normal mode you ascend levels with rising field sizes. There are also challenging timegoals to reach. Most grinding was to step on 5k bombs and set 50k flags. ------------- Shiara Recommended This game is a really hardcore yet casual version of Minesweeper. It sticks to the well-known basics of the game, but brings it to a far grander scale, the only item drops that the description mentions being extra lives (and some canisters to hold your extra lives early on), which is just as it should be. And you'll need them all, you really will, the global 'record' seems to be level 67 right now which only two people have gotten, and I'm currently working on level 59, and I'm facing a 36x22 board with 219 bombs to flag and 7 lives (plus any others you find on the map) to do it with. You'll learn so many new tricks and logical leaps out of necessity as to how to figure out the status of squares and try to narrow down the number of 50-50 guesses you have to make, which is why you have that many lives. It's a really engaging non-time-constrained puzzle game, exactly the kind of game that I love running in the background while I do or watch other stuff. Who knew Minesweeper could be so fun? I didn't run into any bugs or glitches or have any complaint about the UI of the game. Yet. (Edit: I now have run headlong into a fairly major bug but the devs seem responsive and are working on it. (Edit: They fixed it!)) The one background tune it has is also a nice, non-intrusive, non-obnoxious track so I've left it on even after nearly 24h of off-and-on play. ------------- anti-magic Recommended Fine Sweeper is a better looking mine sweeper but with an important difference: a life/health system. That last fact unfortunately destroys any and all challenge in the original. The levels do get progressively bigger with more bombs but the game is quite willing to barf life pickups onto each field that let you get away with a handful of mistakes. Hexcells is still the best minesweeper knock-off around, but this is at least a nice visual update to an old classic if you're feeling nostalgic. ------------- WarrEn Recommended it's mine sweeper bro, ???? yeah ------------- RIP CrashDay 2 Recommended Beats free windows minesweeper because of switching colors every level. Fine Sweeper is a re-envisioning of the good old casual game we抮e all familiar with since Windows 3.11 came along, and we collectively sunk millions of productive hours into an ugly little thing called Minesweeper. Still itching for a fix but you can抰 look at the hopelessly outdated and functional presentation any more? Now there抯 cure: Fine Sweeperinherits and expands upon the best traits of the genre. Players who just randomly clicked tiles open in past and never got the addictive rules have the option to learn the mechanics with a little tutorial slideshow. Seasoned players can test their abilities in the 揅lassic Mode?without extra-lives. Or set up your game independent from the campaign mode to either be a stroll in the park or a dash Through the Fire and Flames. The campaign offers levels increasing in difficulty and size of the playing field while staying true to the core mechanics. It offers newcomers and veterans a challenge without the game being unfair, item drops will help you progress, and a little mishap near the end doesn抰 mean 揋ame Over?right away. Further, Fine Sweeper is now integrated into Steam: There are 18 + 1 achievements waiting to be unlocked, global and local leaderboards, your progress and settings will be synced with the Steam Cloud so you can keep progressing no matter where you are. Please note: Fine Sweeper won抰 guarantee guessing-free boards, there抯 always an element of luck involved to progress (especially on higher levels), still your first click remains always safe. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1.
