Description

Beginnings and Endings

In December 2010 Flooding the Silence will be unveiling their new album 'Beginnings and Endings'. Taking the best elements from their debut album 'Chase the Sun', expanding on the textures and shades of light and dark that punctuated that album and adding a more confident approach to the song-writing and production processes. After nearly 2 years jamming and refining their new material on stage and in the rehearsal room the band took 16 songs forward to be recorded with the intention of picking the best to deliver a more consistent album than before. Listening to the 9 songs that make up 'Beginnings and Endings' gives a definite sense of a band finding it's voice and using it to startling effect.

Formed in the dusty bars of East Anglia, Flooding the Silence have developed a strong and exceptionally well mannered fan base around the east of England. Their debut EP ‘Midnight’, which received local radio play and has been downloaded over 50,000 times*, crow-barred its way in to the top 20 in Jamie Oliver’s unsigned band competition and as well as playing around Suffolk, Essex and Cambridge a string of gigs with Medway heroes the Len Price 3 has seen the lads venture further a field to London and Kent to ply their trade. The debut album ‘Chase the Sun’ gave a taster of what was to come, mixing a number of influences to create a diverse but anthemic collection of songs including fan favourites Aurora, Dischord and Bethnal Green. The album was initially made available for free online in rough mix format for long term fans before the band took remixed / remastered copies of the album out to gigs to be sold. After a particularly memorable gig in London the band decided to show their appreciation to the audience by throwing 100 copies of the album out into the crowd to a great response.
