As World War II rages around the world, a police inspector fights his own war on the home-front in investigating murder, robbery, and espionage on the south coast of England.

Foyle's War is a British detective drama television series set during World War II, created by screenwriter and author Anthony Horowitz, and commissioned by ITV after the long-running series Inspector Morse came to an end in 2000. It has aired on ITV since 2002. It was axed in 2007 by director of television Simon Shaps, but positive public demand and a number of complaints about the cancellation prompted ITV to revive the series after its sixth series proved to be a ratings success. Anthony Horowitz suggested on his website that Foyle's War will return for an eighth series in 2013. It was later confirmed by ITV that three episodes had been commissioned for 2013.

A fusion of historical drama and mystery, this provocative new series focuses on the effects of World War II on the villages of England's vulnerable southern coast. As the war heats up in Europe, police inspector Christopher Foyle (Michael Kitchen, "Reckless", "Our of Africa") is prevented from enlisting by his superiors who need his talent at home. Foyle is an everyday detective, waging war against local crime in an atmosphere suffused with extraordinary personal and social turmoil.
