"GARFIELD MINUS GARFIELD" Web Comic

"Garfield Minus Garfield" (garfieldminusgarfield.net and gocomics.com/garfieldminusgarfield) is a Web comic created by Dan Walsh in 2008. Each strip consists of a "Garfield" comic strip from which all the characters except Garfield's owner Jon Arbuckle have been removed. The resulting strips consist mostly of Jon interacting only with himself, rather than with his pet cat. Walsh's Web site characterizes "Garfield Minus Garfield" as "a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb." Though Walsh admits that he was not the first to come up with the idea, he was the first to popularize it. Paws, Inc., the official license holder for "Garfield" products, publishes an identically-named and themed strip on the gocomics.com Web site. Unlike Walsh's version, it includes the original "Garfield" strip underneath each "minused" strip.
