Description
Welcome, fellow post-apocalyptic readers! Here is version 1 of the my
collection. I take no credit for any scanning or whatnot, just compilation. Contained in this collection: Aldiss, Brian - Greybeard.lit Aldiss, Brian W - Hothouse.doc Atwood, Margaret - Oryx and Crake.html BeauSeigneur, James - Christ Clone Trilogy Atwood, Margaret - The Handmaid's Tale.pdf Brin, David - The Postman.lit Brunner, John - The Sheep Look Up.lit Butler, Octavia - Parable of the Sower.lit Butler, Octavia - Parable of the Talents [pdf].pdf Crace, Jim - The Pesthouse (v1.0).html Dick, Philip K - Dr Bloodmoney.lit Frank, Pat - Alas, Babylon 2.0.txt Leiber, Fritz - Gather, Darkness!.pdf Matheson, Richard - I Am Legend.txt McCarthy, Cormac - The Road.html McDevitt, Jack - Eternity Road.lit McIntyre, Vonda - Dreamsnake.lit Milller, Walter M - A Canticle for Leibowitz.txt Niven, Larry - Lucifer's Hammer.txt Norton, Andre - Daybreak 2250 AD.lit Norton, Andre - No Night Without Stars.txt Sheffield, Charles - Aftermath 1 - Aftermath.pdf Sheffield, Charles - Aftermath 2 - Starfire.pdf Smith, Mitchell - Snowfall Trilogy Stewart, George R - Earth Abides.lit Varley, John - Millennium.rtf Wilhelm, Kate - Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang.rtf Wyndham, John - The Chrysalids.doc Zelazny, Roger - Damnation Alley.lit Keep in mind that a few of these titles aren't exactly post-apocalyptic (meaning that a major event hasn't wiped out most of the planet or humankind), but they do follow the theme to a degree. For example, John Brunner's "The Sheep Look Up" tells the story of an Earth with a growing issue with pollution and its effects on mankind. Admittingly, I haven't read all of these, but I do recommend Walter Smith's "A Canticle for Leibowitz" and Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" if you haven't dove into the genre before. More to come!....once I find them. FAQ: Q: So, what do I need to start reading? A: The eBooks are in different formats, so you may need a couple of programs. Foxit Reader is great for PDFs, Microsoft Reader for *.lit eBooks, and your web browser of choice can read the *.html and *.txt files. Q: Hey! I use Linux! I can't read the *.lit files! A: Go to http://www.convertlit.com/ and read up. The program there will work with Wine (http://www.winehq.org); I've done this myself using both the command line tool and GUI. Maybe I'll convert them for you in a future release. Q: Some of these are formatted too well. A: What do you want for free? Go buy the actual book.
