The first Glastonbury, in 1971, was a free festival …. and made a big loss. To try to get some of it back, all artists were asked to contribute a special track – some gave a soundboard track from the show, others recorded unique versions of current tracks.



Originally released as a triple album limited to 5,000 copies, the Glastonbury Fayre Festival album has been an extremely rare item for many years, sometimes bootlegged or re-released in abridged versions of this particularly impressive 1972 live festival.



If you are lucky enough to get an original, it comes with a gatefold sleeve that folds out 3 times to make a giant poster of the first pyramid stage, you get a book about the festival, a build your own pyramid stage kit and a dome.



The album made another big loss – its surprising with such a start that Glastonbury ever got off the ground and grew into the event it is today.





This is recorded off an original 1972 album, at 192kbs, with no noise reduction. I’m not hot on filtering out scratches, so if anyone wants to take over and clean the tracks up, feel free.
