Goodnight Mister Tom Xvid.avi

The late great John Thaw (Inspector Morse) plays a grumpy old widower, Mister Tom, who is forced against his will to take in a young boy evacuated from London to the country during World War 2. The boy turns out to have been physically and emotionally abused by his mentally ill and overly religious mother who later abandons him. As the old man's disinterest in the task he's been forced into turns to love he heals the emotional scars of the boy and in turn finds someone to fill the hole in his life left by the loss of his own wife and child many years previously. The story ends with the boy learning to ride a bicycle for the first time, looking up at Mister Tom and without thinking calling him "Dad".
