Really hot! And the temperature was high too. Situated amidst the fields of Kansas, the Wakarusa Festival was jammed with people and talent and exuded a vibe that foretold of great things to come for the Mule's 10 pm performance. Although the sun had set, the Mule shone just as brightly and were equally as scorching. Bad Little Doggie came first and hit hard only to be surpassed by Brand New Angel, still fresh to the repertoire. Don't Step On The Grass Sam featured the whole crowd; in deafening unison they sung along as Farmer took the stage with the "Sam Cards". The next offering also featured a guest; this time it was Bernie Worrell who added his unique sound to Mule. The surroundings and full moon over the stage provided a beautiful backdrop for a mesmerizing Fallen Down that gave way to Hunger Strike> Mr. Fantasy> Hunger Strike, not played since Vermont during the spring tour. The brilliance continued and culminated at the set closer Blind Man In The Dark, leaving all salivating for more. U2's One was powerful, but was only a tease for the real treat when Sam Holt of Outformation sang and played brilliantly on Can't You See. As Sam walked off to the overwhelming applause of the crowd, the Mule raised the bar with an unforgettable Soulshine. Related Torrents
