In October 1989, the folks who were lucky enough to score tickets for the “Warlocks” shows in Hampton were treated to two of the most exciting shows of the year. Every song was recorded with the state-of-the-art Le Mobile remote recording truck and recently mastered to HDCD specifications, so needless to say, it sounds like you’re there, in the best seats in the house.

The Hampton “Warlocks” box collects every note of the band’s two “stealth” shows spread over six CDs. This collector’s set comes packaged in a wooden replica of a cigar box (Virginia being a tobacco state dating back to colonial times), and is filled with all sorts of goodies, from a photo-laden historical essay to various pieces of cool memorabilia from the time.

Man, you have done it again. I have been wanting this. Thanks for this beolab
Props to the OP! Thanks
Thanks
HEY: and "one more thing" (I could go on all night about these weeks in my life which are more than a little responsible for my 8+ year college career...) DON'T FORGET: these shows (10/8-9) where just on the heels of the EPIC JGB Band shows at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, aka: PURE JERRY #5 (I stayed in a Howard Johnson hotel room with 8 other heads in 2 double beds which had orange carpet on the WALLS those nights... I'll never forget those nights as, like with these shows, as some of the highlights of my 49 years...so far....
I agree, with contact420 but I will throw in the fact that these Hampton shows had an unrepeatable Element Of Surprise that the set lists reflect and the technology (check out the MIDI Jerry uses, for example, in the Birdsong, Dark Star and so on...and not to mention the fact that these shows herald the dawning of (yet another) PEAK run of the Good ol' Grateful Dead including NY and FL and ran all the way through 1990, which we've been celebrating here lately. Once again, Love & Respect to Beolab1700 for posting this!
I was there!!! Skipped school, slept around the drum circles in the nearby state park and had my mind blown at these shows...my first Help>Slip>Franklins, Dark Star, Attics, and excellent versions of songs in their rotation at this time. I'm SO STOKED to see this posted here!!! Hampton is an amazing venue...I've seen a ton of shows there but these 2 (tickets only became available in the week preceding the show...very rare, very hush-hush...(the GD had been 'banned' by the local gov't...so, they 'reverted' to another incarnation of their name "The Warlocks" (another excellent, raw, incarnation of the band!) to secure the f'n amazing Hampton Coliseum! This is a keeper! THANK YOU, BEO!!!
Awesome!
This and the Miami shows were the best of that fall tour!
The Miami Dark Star gets evil
yeah, these are some damn good shows...wish I had been there
