Great Railway Journeys - Los Mochis to Veracuz Rick Stein Trains have a magic and mystery which is being lost in the West as the motor car takes over. But in the many parts of the world they are still the main method of transport - accessible to all, uniting families, forming crucial arteries linking societies. On trains you can discover something about the heart and soul of a country. In Great Railway Journeys six exceptional travellers share with us their discoveries, and their pleasures in travelling by train, whether in a steam train, a shabby diesel or on a steam engine footplate. Entertaining and thoughtful, full of personal memories and beautifully described experiences, each journey has its own very unique character, to be savoured by those who enjoy travelling, are interested in contemporary life in other parts of the world, and, of course, love the magic and mystery of trains. Los Mochis to Veracuz with Rick Stein Cornish fish chef, Rick Stein, crosses Mexico from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. As a young back-packer, Rick wandered all over Mexico and fell in love with the country and its hot, spicy cooking. He also worked on the railways as a track layer before reading English at Oxford and opening a seafood restaurant in Padstow. With this background, Rick is very much at home travelling on the spectacular rail route through Copper Canyon and the Sierre Madre Mountains. Mexico's railway has been in decline following privatisation, so Rick has to be given his own private coach to complete a journey that takes him to Chihuahua, home of Pancho Villa and the Mexican revolution, Durango where they used to make the cowboy movies he loved as a boy, and to Mexico City where he's driven around in an Art Deco Volkswagon Beetle made out of spare parts. But what really makes Mexico tick? Rick thinks it is very like his own cooking - an endless improvisation. What really defines the country is its randomness, the way things seem to work despite the absence of any rules or regulations. === File Information === File Name: Great Railway Journeys - Mexico Rick Stein Length: 00:44:51 File Size: 398 MB Video Codec..: XViD Video Bitrate..: 1038kb/s Display aspect ratio: 1.500 Audio Codec..: MPEG Audio Audio Bitrate..: 192 kb/s =============================== Some of the other rather spiffing shows available now and always if you signup free @ www.TheBox.bz: Comedy: The Office, Peep Show, Coupling, Chef, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses, The IT Crowd, Brass Eye, Nathan Barley, Young Ones, Monty Python, Blackadder, Alan Partridge, Father Ted, Coupling, Little Britain, Mr Bean, Extras, Green Wing, Mighty Boosh Drama: Casualty, Holby City, The Bill, Hustle, Skins, Shameless, Ashes To Ashes Entertainment: Faking It, Derren Brown, Scrapheap Challenge, Strictly Come Dancing, Wife Swap Game/Quiz Shows: Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Have I Got News For You, Deal Or No Deal (UK), Q.I.
