Description

On 29 November, 1948 came one of Australia's defining moments, when Holden released the first locally designed and built car - the 48 215 - fondly known as the FX. "She's a Beauty" said Prime Minister Ben Chifley. From that moment on, life would never be the same again for those Australians who have owned and driven five and a half million Holdens since.
This Video, narrated by Holden personality Greg Norman, follows Holden's history up to, between and post both World wars as portrayed in rare newsreel film from the 30s, 40s and 50s. We pick up further insights into lifestyles of the period as TV footage follows significant model changes through the 60s and 70s. We see Holdens exported around the world, motorsport success at Bathurst and sales promotion film/TV commercials over the years. We speak to designers of the original Holden, industry experts and current owners of older pristine Holdens.
Finally we look at the future with glimpses of the cars of the next century and where Holden fits into the global picture.
This 90 minute video, featuring restored footage from The National Film and Sound Archive and Holden's own collection, reveals in a unique way how Holden cars made it to icon status in 50 years.
Contains archive footage previously unseen on television.
Please note:- this file was copied from a VHS tape in 4:3 format. Quality is very reasonable and the file will be of special interest to Holden devotees. It is even more relevant now, as Holden is going to close down in the next year or two. This movie covers up to the year 1998.
