Description

Starting us off we have vocal samples care of a couple of honouree Groove Criminals over in Frankfurt.
The phrases and words were recorded in German and English (a surprising amount of the words are the same
so we've left those out) and then vocoded, into two separate styles of computer-vocal.

Following on from these vocal samples we also raided our large collection of vintage speaking toys.
All of these have been modded with a ΒΌ inch jack output so were run straight into the computer via
our Mackie desk. The Speak and Music unit also has some built-in tones to play on its membrane keypad.
We sampled these off with just a touch of analogue lushness provided by the Moogerfoogers.

Next up we had a scour around GCHQ and came up with quite a nice collection of analogue drum machines.
All of these machines are pre-midi and except for the Sound Master non-programmable. We worked our way
through the presets using any voice muting controls the machine may (or may not) have to get some extra
variations on the patterns. We chose tempos that sounded good for the patterns playing so feed 'em into
Recycle, Phatmatic Pro, Guru or whatever beat-slicer you use and have a play around. We think they sound
great, especially the Acetone which was built in 1969!

The rest of the robot percussion were created using the analogue synths and the beats folder were put
together using these sounds triggered from an old Roland SPD-8 drum pad. The only exceptions came from
a Yamaha DD-5 drum machine, a low end toy/instrument (although it does have 4 pads and a midi out)
which we've circuitbent (via a mini jack patch bay) so it spews some real robotic sounding percussive noises.

The FX section were once again created by the analogue synths and also a Bugbrand Weevil synth/drone box
that was fed through our 3 Moogerfoogers. The Moogerfoogers also got plenty of use on our trusty Stylophone
(an instrument used by Kraftwerk on a couple of tracks) to turn it's simple output into something a bit more interesting.
