Plot :

In 1988, following his mother's death, a young Peter Quill is abducted from Earth by the Ravagers, a group of space pirates led by Yondu Udonta. Twenty-six years later on the planet Morag, Quill steals an orb, after which he is intercepted by Korath, a subordinate to the fanatical Kree, Ronan. Although Quill escapes with the orb, Yondu discovers his theft and issues a bounty for his capture, while Ronan sends the assassin Gamora after the orb.

When Quill attempts to sell the orb on the Nova Empire capital world, Xandar, Gamora ambushes him and steals it. A fight ensues, drawing in a pair of bounty hunters: the genetically engineered raccoon Rocket, and the tree-like humanoid Groot. The Nova Corps arrives and arrests all four, imprisoning them in the Kyln. While there, a powerful inmate, Drax, attempts to kill Gamora due to her association with Ronan, who killed his family. Quill convinces Drax that Gamora can bring Ronan to him. Gamora reveals that she has betrayed Ronan, unwilling to let him use the orb's power to destroy planets, starting with Xandar. Learning that Gamora has a buyer for the orb, she, Quill, Rocket, Groot, and Drax work together to escape from the Kyln.

Elsewhere, Ronan meets with Gamora's adoptive father, Thanos, to discuss her betrayal. Accompanied by Drax, Quill's group escapes the Kyln in his ship – the Milano – and flee to...

Trama :

Nel 1988, in seguito alla morte della madre, il giovane Peter Quill viene rapito da un gruppo di pirati spaziali chiamati "Ravagers", guidati da Yondu Udonta. Ventisei anni dopo, sul disabitato pianeta Morag, Quill ruba una misteriosa sfera, chiamata "Orb" per conto di un collezionista chiamato "Broker". Quill, tuttavia, viene fermato da Korath, un alleato dello spietato estremista Kree noto come Ronan l'accusatore. Quill riesce a seminare Korath ed a fuggire da Morag con la sfera ma Yondu, venuto a sapere del furto ed interessato all'Orb, mette una taglia sulla sua testa, mentre Ronan manda l'assassina Gamora a recuperare la sfera.

Durante la lotta che ne segue, intervengono due cacciatori di taglie: un procione geneticamente modificato, Rocket Raccoon, e Groot, un alieno simile a un albero umanoide. Tuttavia, i Nova Corps, guidati da Rhomann Dey, intervengono ed arrestano i quattro, che vengono condotti alle Kyln, un carcere di massima sicurezza. In prigione, Gamora viene attaccata da Drax il Distruttore, un carcerato in cerca di vendetta su Ronan, responsabile della morte della sua famiglia. Quill riesce a convincere Drax a risparmiare la vita di Gamora, la quale rivela di aver tradito Ronan: il Kree, infatti, vuole distruggere Xandar e con esso milioni di innocenti, e Gamora vuole impedirlo. Dopo aver saputo che Gamora...
