Harvey Mandel - 1968 - Cristo Redentor (2003 Expanded Remaster) [EAC FLAC] Harvey Mandel Harvey Mandel in 1968 Wikipedia: Harvey Mandel (born March 11, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, United States) is an American guitarist known for his innovative approach to electric guitar playing. A professional at twenty, he played with Charlie Musselwhite, Canned Heat, The Rolling Stones, and John Mayall before starting a solo career. Mandel is one of the first rock guitarists to use two-handed fretboard tapping. His first record was the album Stand Back! Here Comes Charley Musselwhite's Southside Band in 1966 with Charlie Musselwhite. Described in 1997's Legends of Rock Guitar as a "legendary" album, it was influential in bridging the gap between blues and rock and roll, with Mandel's "relentless fuzztone, feedback-edged solos, and unusual syncopated phrasing." The work of a guitar master so admired that he was auditioned by the Rolling Stones in 1975. Includes 8 bonus tracks featuring Mandel on prominent lead guitar. Features detailed liner notes by British music journalist John Tobler. AllMusic Review by Richie Unterberger: Mandel's debut remains his best early work, introducing an accomplished blues-rock guitarist capable of producing smooth, fluid lines and a variety of tasteful distortion and buzzing via an assortment of tone pedals and customized amplifiers. He augmented his flash with an adventurous appetite for orchestrated, quasi-classical strings (especially in the eerie symphonic title cut), jazz-blues-rock fusion in the mold of The Electric Flag (as on "Before Six"), and even a bit of country in the presence of top steel guitarist Pete Drake.
