Het verhaal begon toen detective Steve McGarrett naar het eiland Oahu kwam, om
de moord op zijn vader te onderzoeken. Daar kreeg hij de taak om samen met een
nieuw eliteteam de georganiseerde misdaad op Hawaï aan te pakken. Zijn team
bestaat uit Detective Danny 'Danno' William, een agent die het vasteland heeft
verruild voor Hawaii en Chin Ho Kelly, een voormalig protegé van McGarretts vader.

partner, Kono Kalakaua, a Cadet at the Police Academy who's 1 week from graduating,
and Captain Lou Grover, a former Chicago PD Head of SWAT.
