Game Soundtrack - Ambient/Downtempo
"A journey in mythic sound worlds" Okay, so... you're a gamer? If you are, then this album is just for you. This is something really special, and it's awesome. Of course, you have to like ambient/downtempo style music to really appreciate it - but it's so awesome, how could you not? This is the game music based on one of the best games of our times... in fact, the game that changed the way games are designed and framed! The game was MYST - and a bit of it's history is here for you in the Program Notes. This hour of great music was broadcast by Hearts of Space Radio Show back in 2007, seven years ago, but it has NOT been uploaded here until today! The music was sampled from several of the game soundtrack albums - but it's ALL music from Riven - and the World of Myst. Hope you like it! I sure do! FLAC & MP3 at VBR, Program notes included with the track list, of course. Program Notes by Steven Hill, Producer One of the great inspirations to brilliant computer programmers and offbeat artists everywhere is the story of brothers RAND and ROBYN MILLER — creators of the hit computer game MYST. From the first CD-ROM edition in 1993, the MYST franchise evolved through four sequels and a spinoff, sold over 12 million games and spawned six soundtrack albums, three novels, several comics, and an online version. Inspired by Jules Verne's "Mysterious Island," from the beginning the Miller brothers blazed their own trail, setting new content and visual standards, and ultimately changing the way people played computer games. In a world of gory, violent "first person shooters," MYST invented its own category, with immersive environments of stunning artistic quality, texture and atmosphere, and a focus on puzzle-solving in a moral universe driven by a mythic story. The original music of MYST was the work of ROBYN MILLER. In addition to his graphic talents, he was a fine ambient/electronic musician. Subtle, deep and atmospheric, his music set the tone for the emotional experience of MYST. Sequels were scored by ROBYN MILLER, JACK WALL, and TIM LARKIN. Related Torrents
