Synopsis: The Afrikaans comedy Hoofmeisie is a hilarious look at the lives of a couple of primary school girls and their obsessed parents who are all vying for them to become head girl of Laerskool Stumbo Pops.

The story centres on loveable 12-year-old Nadia who decides one day that she wants to be the school’s head girl. Thus, she sets about putting together a list of achievements that will help her reach her goal. She is very successful in her attempt at public speaking, taking the trophy for best speaker and begins to dream that the head girl blazer is already on her back when disaster strikes.

Catastrophes in netball try-outs, entrepreneurs’ day and her day to day grades hamper her prospects, and when she becomes convinced that her best friend Melissa sabotaging her efforts to achieve her own desire to be head girl, Nadia decides it’s time to fight fire with fire.

Off come the gloves as the previously positive and kind-spirited Nadia becomes a self-centred ‘mean girl’ to whom no trick, no matter how dirty, is off limits in her bid to win the title of Hoofmeisie
