This is a short story about how they adapt to their new world and the grief that can come from a game situation becoming real. I don't think there will be more seasons because the issues are pretty much resolved. But there are some things that are never explained: how they got into the world and why.

It simply isn't important to enjoy a story about a game world. So just do.

But it frustrated me a little so I'll invent a scenario:

Maybe the world was created with the collective wishes of all the people who made and played videogames. Everything is made of energy and everything that we perceive is just thoughts, so maybe if we put enough energy into our thoughts we can make things happen. So this world was created like a parallel world.

Some people wished strongly to escape their lives and forget their worries. When they crossed a doorway, they ended up crossing through a gate that transported them into that world with no memories. (I highly recommend the anime GATE) They seem to appear in front of a stone door that linked them to our world with their strong wishes.

Unfortunately, since this was unconscious, the only way to activate the way back would be if they remember and wish to return just as strongly. But they can't remember so they never will, and the more they love their new life, the more it's unlikely.

So be careful what you wish for, and the thoughts that you nurture, because you could make your worst fear become reality. By wanting to flee a situation you might end up into a worst one. (That's why you should say no to drugs, kids.)

The trolls don't seem to attack the cities and yet they are hunted, even though they just mind their own business. Because in the games that's just how things are done to gain experience and no one question its necessity. Having another job is an unthinkable option. I felt sorry for the trolls, they seem like ugly people instead of random monsters, but I guess we must look ugly to them too. They have friends and communities. Their attackers react like offended victims when they fight back, but what did they expect to do "Oh pardon me, please go on and murder me while I just wait calmly." You started a fight, don't expect it to go your way and win all the time.

I love the anime for for making me see things differently by showing how wrong it could get if a game became real, we wouldn't necessarily be heroes... It's brutal like SAO.

I don't know the creator's explanation of they how and why, but if you needed one to enjoy the show and feel satisfied, now you do~ Or make your own hypothesis.
