.. Hostage to the Devil - by Father Malachi Martin (1976) .. .. This book is a very unusual document - retelling the exorcism of 5 different Americans by priests of the Catholic Church. .. The Author Malachi Brendan Martin (July 23, 1921 – July 27, 1999) was an Irish Catholic priest, theologian, archaeologist, writer on the Catholic Church, and professor at the Vatican's Pontifical Biblical Institute. From 1958 Martin served as a close aide of the Holy See in the Vatican of Pope John XXIII.[1] His 17 novels and non-fiction books were frequently critical of the Catholic Church. Among his most significant works were The Scribal Character Of The Dead Sea Scrolls (1958) and Hostage To The Devil (1976) which dealt with demonic possession. .. The Book His non-fictional writings cover a range of Catholic topics, such as demonic exorcisms (Hostage to the Devil), satanism, Liberation Theology, the Second Vatican Council (The Pilgrim), the Tridentine liturgy, Catholic dogma, modernism (Three Popes and the Cardinal; The Jesuits), the financial history of the Church (Rich Church, Poor Church; The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church), the New World Order and the geopolitical importance of the Pope (The Keys of This Blood). .. Guide to Performing an Exorcism This little book also includes a "guide" for conducting an exorcism (actually more detail on specific exorcisms), and a final story about the last days of one particular priest/exorcist as told by the author who was at his bedside. Apparently he failed in his attempt to complete one exorcism, and retired from practice afterwards. His last observations on the nature of the work, and the nature of true evil, is very thought-provoking. As this work is referenced in M. Scott Peck's book, "People of the Lie" about people whom Peck considers to be truly evil (based on his personal experiences with such people in his psychiatric practice) I felt this book was worth reading. "People of the Lie" is also available in torrent form here. Related Torrents
