Description
Review When Hot Tuna's SPLASHDOWN was originally issued on the Relix label in 1984, compact discs had yet to take the music consumer marketplace by storm, and vinyl and cassettes were still the preferred formats. But with the CD boom of the late '80s, artists were able to re-release their past albums with extra tracks (since CD's could hold nearly 80 minutes of music, something a single vinyl record could not), case in point Hot Tuna's SPLASHDOWN TWO from 1997. Taken from a WQIV-FM, New York, radio broadcast acoustic performance (originally aired on July 25, 1975, it was around the same time the Apollo-Soyuz joint U.S.-U.S.S.R. space mission was ending), SPLASHDOWN TWO is about as stripped down and basic as Hot Tuna has ever gotten, featuring just guitarist/singer Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady. Standouts on this expanded set include "Mann's Fate," "99 Year Blues," "Sally Where'd You Get Your Liquor From," and "Babe I Want You To Know." Related Torrents
