I fratelli Grimm e l'incantevole strega (The Brothers Grimm) è un film di Terry Gilliam del 2005.
È un film fantastico-avventuroso liberamente ispirato alle fiabe dei fratelli Grimm, che ne sono anche i personaggi protagonisti.
Nella Germania ottocentesca da poco occupata da Napoleone, i fratelli Jacob e Wilhelm Grimm si godono la vita fingendosi esorcisti e cacciatori di demoni,
sfruttando la superstizione degli ingenui contadini dei villaggi grazie a ingegnosi trucchi da palcoscenico, da loro stessi inventati.
Tra i due, però, spesso nascono dissapori: Wilhelm è razionale e ama spassarsela, Jacob è introverso, sognatore e gli piace fantasticare scrivendo fiabe.
I due sono però scoperti dalle autorità francesi che tuttavia riconoscono la loro abilità nell'inganno e li costringono a risolvere il mistero di Marbaden,
piccolo villaggio nei pressi di una foresta, dove sono scomparse dieci bambine.
Come i francesi, i due sono convinti che dietro la vicenda si nasconda un gruppo di abili impostori...

The Brothers Grimm is a 2005 adventure fantasy film directed by Terry Gilliam.
The film stars Matt Damon and Heath Ledger in an exaggerated and fictitious portrait of the Brothers Grimm as traveling con-artists in French-occupied Germany during the early 19th century.
However, the brothers eventually encounter a genuine fairy tale curse which requires real courage instead of their usual bogus exorcisms.
Supporting roles are portrayed by Peter Stormare, Lena Headey, Jonathan Pryce, and Monica Bellucci.
Wilhelm Grimm (Matt Damon) and Jakob Grimm (Heath Ledger) arrive in French-occupied Germany during the early 19th century.
They go to Karlstadt to rid the town of a witch's ghost.
After killing the "ghost", it is revealed that the Brothers Grimm have actually set up a fake witch to trick the town.
Afterwards, as they are celebrating, Italian torturer, Mercurio Cavaldi (Peter Stormare), takes them to the French General Delatombe (Jonathan Pryce).
Delatombe forces them to solve a mystery: the girls of the small village of Marbaden are disappearing and the villagers are convinced that supernatural beings are responsible.
The Grimms are charged with finding who is responsible and they soon discover that it is the work of a real supernatural force:
a beautiful, yet dangerous 500-year-old Thuringian queen stealing young girls to restore her own beauty....
