Why the ribbon? Over the past few years there has been a growing call for modernization with the UltraEdit user interface, as well as better support for UHD/4k displays.

We set out to address the concerns of our new and existing users – starting with a survey of you, our existing users. The results were very telling: you wanted a more contemporary look while not sacrificing ease of use and functionality, an easier user interface, better handling of customizations, and last but not least, ultra-high-definition display support... The waiting is over.
With this feedback in hand, we carefully refactored and tailored UltraEdit's UI to make it more accessible to the new user while giving the existing user something to get excited about with the updated look and functionality, and most of all…. Complete control authority over customizations.

The new UltraEdit v23 ribbon style UI provides the contemporary look you crave while making UltraEdit's functionality more easily discoverable and accessible with its logical categorization and grouping of commands. Of course your favorite and most common keyboard accelerators and shortcuts are preserved! Furthermore, v23 features an updated icon set throughout the application and unmitigated support for UHD/4k displays.

By building upon the framework of your feedback and our powerful beta team, it's safe to say we didn't build v23.0...you did.

And we get it – as much as our survey respondents were in favor of the ribbon style, there are those who prefer classic toolbars and menus. No problem! Simply right-click on the ribbon and select "Toolbar/menu mode" to restore the classic look. If you like to run lean, you can still run with menus only.
